Peer Support Specialist

We understand that community members access help in different ways. The goal of Peer Support is to engage, support, and give hope to community members who have been historically marginalized and may be hesitant to get help through the mental health system.  Relationships are cultivated based on trust, respect, empathy, and mutual experience. A Peer Support Specialist is a person who has lived personal experience with mental health concerns who can relate to community members who may be struggling and unsure what steps they are ready to take to get help for their mental health concerns.

The Peer Support Specialist helps with the following:

  • One on one support.
  • Work on personal goals.
  • Develop healthy coping strategies.
  • Identify and utilize community resources.
  • Build relationships with various providers and services.
