We are pleased to announce
AMANDA RHODES, MSW, LCSW
as the Mental Health Awareness of Michiana (MHAM)
Volunteer Highlight for October!
MHAM’s volunteer highlight for October– Amanda Rhodes – is a volunteer clinician with the Pro Bono Counseling Project (PBCP). She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and is co-owner of Psych Point LLC, serving as the practice manager.
Amanda specializes in Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, Bipolar Disorder, Women’s Issues, Borderline Personality Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and other trauma related issues. Amanda has also been certified in Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) and is the owner/handler of therapy dog, Walter.
Pro Bono Counseling Project (PBCP) Coordinator Linda Raven on Amanda’s contributions to the PBCP:
“Amanda Rhodes has been so supportive of the Pro Bono Counseling Project. Whenever she has interns, they see clients through the PBCP, and now she has even agreed to allow a small number of clients who were experiencing barriers to psychiatric care to receive free psychiatric services through Psych Pointe as well. Amanda makes significant contributions to mental health in our community, and we are grateful to collaborate with her!”
The goal of the PBCP is to increase access to mental health counseling for individuals, couples or families who do not have insurance or are otherwise unable to afford mental health counseling. This is a short-term arrangement (up to 12 sessions with a 3-6 month period) at no cost to the client.
Amanda tells us what she enjoys about her work with MHAM:
“Volunteering with the MHAM Pro Bono Counseling Project is meaningful because it aligns deeply with both my personal values and Psych Pointe’s mission to make mental health care accessible to everyone. For Psych Pointe, having our staff and interns participate in this initiative helps members of our community have access to mental health care that otherwise might not have the resources to do so.
There is strength in numbers; what’s a better way to serve, support and give back to our community then joining forces with MHAM and the pro bono counseling project? It is absolutely worth it and it’s a great reminder why we do the work that we do.”
