November 2023, Volunteer of the Month

November 2023

We are pleased to announce

Amanda Rhoades, LCSW and Psyche Point

as the Mental Health Awareness of Michiana (MHAM)

Volunteer of the Month!

MHAM’s volunteer of the month, Amanda Rhoades, has volunteered with the Pro Bono Counseling Project (PBCP) for approximately one year and has been a fantastic addition to the PBCP.

When asked why she volunteers with the PBCP, she said, “I feel it’s important that there is access to care and it’s a way to help an underserved population…to do something I’m passionate about while helping an underserved population, makes it that much more rewarding.”

Not only does she do amazing work with the PBCP, but she also founded Psyche Pointe with Heather Holleman, Ph.D. She further explained that “Psych Pointe began in 2021 with the mission to provide collaborative whole-person care with also a focus on allowing new clinicians and practicum students the opportunity to learn and gain experience.  It is important for therapists and practicum students to be a part of the PBCP for community involvement and to offer services to an underserved population, mental health care is important for all.”

When asked why other folks should volunteer with the PBCP, she said, “Becoming a PBCP volunteer is a great way to become more involved with the community and offer services to a population that may not be able to access services easily.  It’s a rewarding experience.”

“Amanda, we want to express our gratitude for your service and to share with the community the important work you and your interns are doing to improve access to care!”

– Lisa Kelly, Executive Director, MHAM
