June 2022, Volunteer of the Month

We are pleased to announce Keilah Hamood, LMHC is the MHAM Volunteer of the Month!

Keilah is a volunteer with MHAM’s Pro Bono Counseling Project (PBCP). The PBCP connects
individuals, couples, and families who are uninsured, underinsured, and unable to afford the
cost of mental health treatment with a volunteer, licensed, and insured mental health
clinician. Volunteer clinicians provide short term counseling at no cost to the client.

Keilah believes that volunteering is important to the community, whether it is taking on a
PBCP client herself or with one of her interns. “The need is so great right now and not
everyone has insurance or can afford to pay out of pocket for services. This (PBCP) makes the
process for these individuals move from hopeless to hopeful. We need to come together in
this community.”

Keilah is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who graduated in 2017 with her master’s in
education. She holds dual licensure in mental health and addictions as an LMHC and LCACA
and is board certified NCC. Keilah owns Freedom Counseling, LLC with locations in South
Bend and Elkhart. Her practice treats women’s issues, domestic violence, and trauma using
EMDR. In addition to her private practice work, she has worked in outpatient addiction
centers, the YWCA dual program for addiction and mental health, and Oaklawn.

Keilah was born in South Bend but spent some time living in Myrtle Beach, SC. She is
married and has three teenagers. She loves the beach, traveling, the outdoors and being in
nature. Her favorite superhero is Wonder Woman.

Thank you, Keilah, for your commitment to improving access to mental health care!
