Stephanie is a volunteer clinician with MHAM’s Pro Bono Counseling Project (PBCP). The PBCP connects individuals, couples, and families who are uninsured, underinsured, and unable to afford the cost of mental health treatment with a volunteer, licensed, and insured mental health clinician. Volunteer clinicians provide short term counseling at no cost to the client.
Stephanie has participated in the PBCP since the pilot in 2021. Through her participation as a volunteer in the PBCP, she has learned more about the struggles community members face of not having insurance benefits.
Stephanie has been in the counseling field since 1990 and in private practice since 2017. She is currently working on telehealth certification and transitioned her entire practice to telehealth in October, 2021. Stephanie is a licensed mental health counselor and certified addictions counselor.
Stephanie is married and a proud mother of two IUPUI students. She is also human mother to two cats and two dogs. Stephanie is a Purdue University Alumni Association board member in Elkhart County and part of the Family Selection Committee for Habitat for Humanity in Elkhart County.
“I encourage area therapists to volunteer with the PBCP. The more volunteers the project has, the greater the impact will be”, Angela Fitch, PBCP Project Coordinator. We thank Stephanie for her enthusiasm for the PBCP and commitment to volunteering.
