February 2024, Volunteer of the Month

February 2024

We are pleased to announce

Janee Carlile, LMHCA

as the Mental Health Awareness of Michiana (MHAM)

Volunteer of the Month!

MHAM’s volunteer of the month, Janee Carlile, has been volunteering with the Pro Bono Counseling Project since Spring 2022!

When asked why she volunteers with MHAM, she said, “I believe that everyone deserves access to Mental Health care. Barriers make it difficult for some folks to find qualified mental health professionals; PBCP bridges that gap. The PBCP and the mission of MHAM to reduce barriers to care and destigmatize mental health concerns align with my values. It is my pleasure to volunteer with an organization that does so much for the community by way of education and connection.”

Through the PBCP, I’ve learned about community resources that I didn’t know existed. I have been able to connect clients and other mental health professionals with the right organizations in the community to provide wrap around services for clients. The impact of PBCP is difficult to measure as the influence extends further than the clients we serve. Clients seeking support through the PBCP explore healing for themselves and in turn impacts individuals in their home, in their family, and in their community.  – Janee Carlile, LMHCA

Not only does Janee do wonderful work with MHAM, but she has also recently transitioned to Revive Counseling & Wellness as a licensed mental health counselor associate who primarily works with adults needing support into the next phase of their lives. Janee is thrilled to be working with the team and is currently accepting new clients!

When asked why other therapists should volunteer with MHAM, she said, “I believe therapists have an ethical duty to provide some pro-bono services; however, that looks for their schedule. Struggles with Mental Health are universal and services should be accessible. The PBCP does a great job taking care of its clinicians. I feel appreciated and supported. Being able to connect with like-minded clinicians outside of my organization has been helpful when I need to consult.”

Janee says, “What are you waiting for?! If you’re on the fence about volunteering, feel free to give me a call and we can talk about your concerns.”

“Janee represents everything that the PBCP is about. In addition to being an exceptional volunteer clinician with the PBCP, she actively participates in the various other activities offered by the PBCP and MHAM.  On a personal level, as a previous PBCP Coordinator, she has been helpful and supportive of me in my new role.”
– Linda Raven, Pro Bono Counseling Project Coordinator, MHAM

“Thank you for the important work you are doing to improve access to care.

– Lisa Kelly, Executive Director, MHAM
