This webinar aims to equip participants with the knowledge to recognize the warning signs of suicide and to provide guidance on how to cope with the loss of a loved one. As communities continue to navigate mental health challenges, this session offers a valuable opportunity for individuals to learn how to support themselves and others in critical times. Key objectives are:

  • Identify Symptoms of Depression and Suicide Warning Signs: Gain insights into recognizing the early symptoms of depression and the critical warning signs of suicidal behavior.
  • Coping Strategies: Learn practical ways to cope when a loved one resists help or when you feel the mental health system is unresponsive.
  • Handling Trauma After a Loss: Understand what to expect and how to manage the emotional trauma that comes with losing a loved one to suicide.

 

About the Speaker: Amanda Noland brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this session. With a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Michigan State University, Amanda has dedicated her career to mental health advocacy. As a Health Promotion Specialist and Mental Health First Aid Instructor with the Elkhart County Health Department, Amanda has spent the last nine years educating the community on various mental health challenges. Amanda is an active member of the Elkhart Chamber Women’s Council, Elkhart County Crisis Intervention Team, and the Elkhart County Suicide Prevention Coalition.  On a personal note, Amanda enjoys spending quality time with her family and being outdoors whenever she can.
