Mental Health Awareness of Michiana is proud to present this webinar.

1.5 hours of continuing education available for LCSW’s, LSW’s, LMFT’s, LMHC’s, LCAC’s, and Psychologists licensed in INDIANA.

 

Jenn Faulkner-Jones and Mixhi Marquis from Mozaic Health and Healing Arts will present on the importance of LGBTQ+ competent care and the elements of a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ clients, patients and co-workers. They will offer insight and information useful for creating competent care based on respectful interaction and inclusive language through formal presentation as well as conversation with participants. Questions are welcome, encouraged and recognized as a valuable component of the learning process.

  • Importance of an intentionally welcoming practice
  • Best practices for competent interaction and language
  • Insight to creating competent forms and intake procedures
  • Awareness of the elements of LGBTQIA+ competent care/environment
  • Recognize that competency is a commitment to an ongoing journey

Mosaic Health & Healing Arts

Founded in July of 2016, Mosaic Health & Healing Arts is Indiana’s first family medical practice to openly welcome the LGBTQIA+ community. As a nonprofit organization, Mosaic serves the entire community with full scope family medicine including LGBTQIA+ competent care, gender affirming hormones, HIV/PrEP care, mental health services, LGBTQ+ competency training (medical & nonmedical), support groups and community resources.

She focuses on serving theLGBTQ2IA+community and their allies living with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and other common mental health concerns as well as educating providers who wish to serve LGBTQIA+ folx. As a gender and sexuality specialist she invites patients to make meaning from their experience of gender. Jenn helps patients plan ways to live with enhanced authenticity, integrating their gender identity and sexuality with other important parts of their life.

 

Mixhi Marquis, BSME, LMT 

Executive Director, Training Provider and Co-Founder of Mosaic

Mixhi has been a leader in creating inclusive and welcoming spaces for the LGBTQ+ community for over 25 years. They draw from a depth of experience that includes more than 15 years in the automotive/motorsports industry, a lifetime of community organizing/training and many years as a healing arts professional to nurture a space where people are seen as whole and each healing journey unique.
