We are pleased to announce
JEAN ROSENGARTEN DAVIDSON
as the Mental Health Awareness of Michiana (MHAM)
Volunteer Highlight for November!
MHAM’s volunteer highlight for November – Jean Rosengarten Davidson – is a volunteer clinician with the Asesoramiento Gratuito, which as an affiliate of Mental Health America, is an important part of our community engagement and service throughout Michiana. The goal of the PBCP is to increase access to mental health counseling for individuals, couples or families who do not have insurance or are otherwise unable to afford mental health counseling. This is a short-term arrangement (up to 12 sessions with a 3-6 month period) at no cost to the client.
PBCP Coordinator Linda Raven has this to say about Jean:
“Jean has been a volunteer since the initial pilot in 2021 and has been a counselor for over 35 years. She is very supportive of the project and gets consistently great feedback from her clients. It is so helpful to have seasoned counselors in the project. Her clients benefit immensely from her years of experience and the project benefits from her credibility, reputation, and knowledge.“
Originally from Indianapolis, Jean received her Master of Social Work from Indiana University. She is trained in Mindfulness, EMDR, and has advanced training in Gestalt Therapy. In her spare time, Jean loves to read, binge watch excellent tv, cook, and spend time with her family, which includes three ADORABLE grandchildren.
“I’ve been in private practice since 1990. I’ve watched, in awe, MHAM go from serious concern, to brainstorming, to a completely volunteer fledgling non-profit, to the amazing organization it is today. I’ve been an enthusiastic volunteer with the PBCP since its inception, and strongly encourage other therapists to do so. Most of us provide pro bono services, but doing so in a coordinated way fosters network and community, which is necessary more than ever in our current environment!”
MHAM co-founder and Executive Director Lisa Kelly says,
“Jean’s contributions to the Pro Bono Counseling Project are humbling. She has volunteered with the PBCP since its pilot in 2021 having worked with 6 clients and donating 47 sessions. PBCP clients make significant progress when they have access to a highly experienced professional like Jean. We are truly grateful for her contributions to the PBCP and her commitment to making mental health care access more equitable.”
