We schedule annual physicals, we track our steps, and we don\u2019t hesitate to visit a doctor when a cough lingers too long.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #385988;\">But when it comes to our minds, we often wait until the &#8220;cough&#8221; has turned into a crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #385988;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At MHAM, our mission is to remove the barriers to care that keep our neighbors in Michiana from living their best lives. One of the most powerful\u2014and underutilized\u2014tools we have to do that is the <\/span><b>mental health screening (<\/b><span style=\"color: #f95d62;\"><a style=\"color: #f95d62;\" href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/screening-tools\/?ref=MHAMichiana\"><b>Take a Mental Health Test \u2013 Mental Health America<\/b><\/a><\/span><b>)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #385988;\"><b><span style=\"color: #00b4bc;\"><br \/>\nIt\u2019s a Check-up, Not a Diagnosis<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #385988;\">The word &#8220;screening&#8221; can sound clinical or even intimidating, but it\u2019s actually one of the simplest acts of self-care available. Much like a blood pressure cuff identifies a risk for heart disease, a mental health screening is a series of science-backed questions designed to help you understand your current emotional landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #385988;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It isn\u2019t a diagnosis. It\u2019s a <\/span><b>data point<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014a way to see if the stress, sadness, or anxiety you\u2019re feeling is a temporary cloud or something that requires a bit more support to navigate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00b4bc;\"><b><br \/>\nWhy Screening Matters Now<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #385988;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We know that half of all lifetime mental health conditions begin by age 14, and 75% by age 24. Yet, the average delay between the onset of symptoms and receiving treatment is a staggering <\/span><b>11 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #385988;\">Screening helps us close that gap.
