Mental Health Awareness of Michiana<\/strong> (MHAM) is honored to announce a generous $59,000 grant from United Way of St. Joseph County<\/a> <\/strong>(UWSJC)<\/span><\/span>. This funding will help MHAM expand critical mental health services in the community through its new Mental Health Workforce Development<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Workforce Development Project<\/a><\/span><\/strong> will enhance MHAM\u2019s role as a training site for master\u2019s-level Interns and early career clinicians (\u201cFellows\u201d) seeking specialized training in perinatal mental health. Addressing a vital gap in care, this initiative will help build a more diverse and culturally competent mental health workforce while improving access for perinatal populations who often face significant barriers to care. Through structured, cohort-based training and expert supervision, the project will equip new professionals with the skills needed to support vulnerable individuals in St. Joseph County.<\/span><\/p>\n

By strengthening the local mental health workforce and increasing access to mental health services, MHAM continues to fulfill its mission of reducing disparities and fostering a healthier, more resilient community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of Mental Health Awareness of Michiana (MHAM), we are thrilled with our growing partnership with United Way of St. Joseph County through this groundbreaking funding opportunity,\u201d said Lisa Kelly, Executive Director of MHAM. \u201cThe community benefit will be generational as we add the number of clinicians who specialize in perinatal mental health and increase crucial access to care for pregnant and postpartum women. We are so grateful for this support and excited about the long term impact this initiative will have.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
